Volunteer Nepal (12 days)

Volunteer Nepal has come about as a result of the April 2015 earthquakes. We have already funded and built a Community Centre in the Everest region, and through the good work of The Rotary Club of Whakatu, and Sir John Kirwan, we now have the funds to build our first homes in the remote village of Bridim, in the Langtang area.

Trip Summary

We have a rest day in Kathmandu to explore the ancient city before an eight hour journey to overnight at Syabru Besi, near the Tibetan border. The following day we trek up to Bridim and start work on our project. Draft plans can be found here courtesy of Jess Wright.

All materials will be on site (including tools thanks to ITM) and we will be working with, and training, locals. The build will take three to four days, after which we will have a chance to explore the rugged Himalaya trails, with views into Tibet.

We will be hosted by the local people who all orignate from Tibet, stay in comfortable but basic accommodation, and eat local food based around rice and vegetables, with an option of wild pork!

Following our return to Kathmandu we have time for further sight-seeing, shopping or just rest and relaxation before departing for home.
